School o_O

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Oh dear God.

First, let me just say that for the few people that do keep up with my boring life through this blog, I apologize for not posting anything worthy of your attention. Actually, I’m sorry for not posting anything at all in a very long time. Life kind of took on this “hectic but still boring” turn and I found myself trying to just spend time with my family and breath before school started. Since I was off doing that, and pretty much ignoring my blog, I apologize for being such a crappy blogger. I promise to be more consistent. Forgiven?? Greeeeeaaaaaaat!

Moving on....

Last semester was a cake walk. I got lucky. I had some pretty basic and simple courses, and even though some of the stuff was challenging I passed with really great grades! But now...not so much. Now that I’m in my second semester, two of my classes are still the same ( I couldn’t stay with my regular math teacher though :-( )but my other two are already causing me anxiety. I have to take them, because I might as well get the crappy ones out of the way first. But seriously, I hate them. And it’s only the first week. Public Speaking (which gives me panic attacks) and Freshman College English (which apparently is just an excuse for an instructor to make you write essays and then insult your grammar usage/scold you). Not only do I already hate the class outline for both of these, but their “rules” really suck. And for someone who has a lot on their plate already, they’re really just causing chaos in my life (and not the good kind). But, I have to take them. Meh. And I am so not prepared like I was last semester. I had all of my books, notebooks, and pens for each class. I was ahead of the game. This time, I still don’t have my books for English and my homework is due on Sunday. Cuttin it kind of close, huh? So, I guess what I’m trying to say is: wish me luck and say a little prayer for me will ya??

Errr...umm..Merry Christmas?

Thursday, December 29, 2011

So, on my four day weekend I spent it all just trying to make sure we had gotten all the presents for Christmas. On Christmas Eve, some friends came over and at some point I became inebriated. Beyond inebriated. Then for the first half of Christmas Day I spent it with my head in the toilet or trying to suck it up for Emery. Then, I took a nap and was all better. My chest still hurts though. That afternoon we went to my husband’s grandmother’s house to celebrate with his side of the family.

Lots of food, good conversation, and we headed back home to just take it easy. And take it easy we did. So easy that I still have about 3 loads of laundry to do. My house was a disaster zone. Emery’s room looked like a toy bomb exploded in it, and our room needed some serious attention. So yesterday afternoon, I had my mother watch Emery while I cleaned up as much as I could. I still have dishes to wash, and the bathroom to clean. But my house smells wonderful, and you can see the floor now!!! You have no idea how awesome that is! Ha!

I do have pictures from Christmas, but nothing really great. Like I said I wasn’t up to doing much and apparently no one else knows how to work a camera but me. Still, as soon as I get them uploaded to my computer I’ll spam the crap out of this blog with pictures! I promise. This week was/is a short one for me at work. My bosses are the best! So we get another four day weekend! Woo woo!! Except this one will probably not involve liquor. Maybe some painting, more cleaning, and finally a haircut! Maybe go see a movie with some friends too. Who knows?

That’s about all I got for ya. Things have been keeping us pretty busy, my diet took a brief hiatus (but I’m getting back on track), and New Years is right around the corner. My, how time flies. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

Hi! Bye!

Thursday, December 1, 2011

Whoa! It's already December 1st?!? Crazy stuff, huh?

I’m a bit of a scrambled mess. This week, is my final week of actual classes, but I have 3 finals within the next two weeks. So, I’ve been trying to wrap everything up. Get caught up, study for finals, and turn in everything that I have. I’m also working on some last minute projects that are all due by the end of next week. Busy, Busy, Busy!

So, to say the least, I’ll return to blogging as soon as things settle down. Wish me luck!!

Halloween

Monday, October 31, 2011

Happy Halloween!
Happy Samhain!

It’s been awhile, aye? The past few weeks have been pretty busy. From October 19-26th we had several celebrations. I had some posts in the works for my brother’s birthday and for my future sister-in-law’s birthday, but I got caught up in a lot of school that I didn’t have time to finish them. Once I do, I’ll post them on their respective days (if I get the chance).

On our birthday weekend my husband and I attempted to have a date night. We got all dressed up, but once we hit town we realized there just wasn’t anything to do. So, we grabbed some alcohol, drink mix materials, and headed home. Since Em was out with my mother we decided to make drinks, listen to music, and play some card games! Oh my gosh is my age showing?!? We had a blast, and at the end of the night we brought Emery back home, and went to sleep! All by MIDNIGHT!! Yea, if it wasn’t showing before it is now. LOL! That Sunday, we spent time with some friends. Emery and I were able to have a girls only lunch with a friend of mine. It was definitely needed, and nice.

This past weekend, my grandmother came back home. She’s spent a few months in Georgia with some of her other children and family. As awesome as it is for her to go visit, get away for awhile, and spend time with them we really missed her! Two of my uncle’s brought her down so it was nice to get to spend time with them this weekend too.

School has been good. I was caught up in a few back to back exams so I spent a lot of time with my nose in a book. That or taking notes, and practicing essays. This in turn left me feeling very...anxious. Thankfully, this past Saturday was filled with projects to help me “shake it off”. I did a mass load of laundry. Rearranged the workout/storage room. I set up the basics of my husband’s new “man cave”. There are still some things we have to get for it. I gave our “first born” a bath, and then finally moved Emery’s crib into our room. Lots of dusting, sweeping, and mopping. It was awesome! I really felt like I was getting everything ready for winter. This next weekend, I’m doing another clothes haul! I’ll be sending some stuff to my cousin and the rest to H.O.P.E. Needless to say, I’ve been feeling very productive.

I’m still heartbroken over the news about Keegan. And as much as I wish that I could make all these sick kids better, I know that I can’t. So, I just hope that every single one of them has the best time while here. Whether it be a few months, or a lifetime. I pray that they feel comfort and love no matter what. And now, I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Halloween!!

I Need 30 Hour Days For This!

Tuesday, October 11, 2011

Today I find out how well I did on my History exam and how I did on my 3rd Algebra quiz. Oh my...I am so nervous! Today I was also emailed my grades for my computer class and my worst grade was a 75. Ew. We have a practice midterm exam, and it’s 141 questions LONG. Not including the project. We have to learn this stuff because the actual exam will include everything on the practice one. The actual exam is next week. On top of that, I have two more assignments and two more quizzes due this weekend.

So what am I trying to get at with all of this boring nonsense? Well, I’m probably going to be MIA a lot this week. I have maybe one other post that I can set an auto-post for but other than that, I’ve got nothing! (scroll to the bottom if you don’t have time to read my excuses) My camera will not come back into my possession until tomorrow so I have no pictures to post. Then, we have a lot of yard work due to the flood this past weekend. Yup, flood. Our (my parent’s) houses were the only ones really effected because apparently our homes are built inside the only hole in our town. JOY. So everything smells gross, and the grass looks like it drowned. A lot of stuff floated into a ditch right across the street. Emery’s slide was NOT fun to fish out. The dogs need baths and spray downs. We have to bomb our house because when a lot of rain comes, so do the huge water roaches (ewwww!).Then, if the weather is good, I’ll be having myself a BIG “winter” cleaning and a good-will (HOPE is our local donation facility) haul. We have a lot of stuff we need to get rid of.

So, to summarize this: I’m going to be really really busy. Hope everyone’s having a good week!

We're Getting Sick, Again.

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

My little bird was feeling pretty crappy on Sunday night. Monday came and she was running a fever, had a runny nose, and a really nasty cough. My mother decided to stay home to take care of her, and when I got home she herself looked like, for lack of a better word, crap! Her nose was runny, she was sneezing, and she had a cough. They both looked tired and weak. Now, usually Monday afternoons I go for a one to two-mile run but yesterday I spent most of my afternoon with a baby in my hands. That was my sign that Em was definitely sick. She wanted to be in my lap the whole time, she cried and moaned randomly, and hardly ate any of her favorite foods/snacks. Night time arrived and she was feeling a little better, but I was feeling like crap. We cuddled in bed, and then her fever got up again. She cried and moaned randomly throughout the night. It was a bit heartbreaking, to not be able to fix it for her, but instead, I just cradled her until she fell back to sleep.

Today, I am feeling pretty cruddy. My nose is a bit running, my throat is sore, I have body aches, and I feel pretty tired and weak. Which is not fun. Mom’s are supposed to be “Super Heroes”, we don’t get sick, right? Then, to top it all off, my husband was complaining of a sore throat this morning. So that makes three of us total in our household that aren’t feeling very well. The last time this happened, it took us a good two months to get rid of it! So, I’m really hoping this passes! Not to mention my husband has his first show tonight!! (<--Yay!!) I’d really hate for him to not be able to perform at his best. He really, really wants tonight to go well. Plus, I don’t want to attend his first show looking/feeling like crap either. I want it to be a good night out for both of us!

Also, today is Day 2 of my “eat clean” diet! No sugar, no bread. Whole foods, meats, and lots of WATER! I’m doing this for 30 Days, along with my continued running schedule, and I hope to see good results at the end of the month!! I got the inspiration from Jess over at IROCKSOWHAT! She’s truly an inspiring lady and mommy! Now, I know we’re all different, but her continued weight loss progress has really motivated me to WANT this! I am more motivated to keep up with a healthy diet. Plus, she’s got some great recipes if you need idea’s for meals - I’ve copied a few myself! Now, I haven’t gone completely sugar free just yet because I left some sweet tea at work to kind of gradually get me off of sugar these first few days. And tonight will be interesting since the show is going to be at a club/bar. I might have myself a beer (no more than that because I’m the DD) or maybe a sweet tea? But tomorrow will be my last day of sugar (except for in fruits) for the next 30 days! Yikes!! I feel really good about this though! I’ve even got my mom to “semi” join me, lol! She’s recently been gaining a bit of weight, and diabetes runs in our family as well as obesity, so I’ve been really worried about her. She used to go for walks in the afternoons, and she’d go for 3 or 4 miles. But lately, she gets winded just walking down our side road. She’s always tired, and she’s not the healthiest eater. So my dad and I are trying to get her to stick with this diet, with me. She’s not going as “drastic” as I am, but she’s allowing me to cook her lunches and dinners. Plus, she’s agreed to go for walks with me after I’ve gotten done running. I really hope she continues this with me!

Now, it’s off to get ready for a run and then a show!! Hopefully, everything goes as planned and we are all feeling better by tomorrow!! Man, only four more days till the weekend! I’m so looking forward to a nice, slow, low key weekend too. And I better get it! LOL! Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!!

Rewind

Sunday, May 1, 2011

When things get busy at home, I find that I put my blog(s) on the bottom of my list of things to do. Which is what happened last week. Then this past week, I just kind of threw in a post about how my fitness was going and how I felt about “the” wedding before even really updating any of you on how things were going! Ooops! So now that it’s Sunday, and I have a minute or two to spare I’m going to fill you guys in.

First, yes, I changed the layout again! I just couldn’t wait for summer to refresh the page. Sorry! But anyway, the week before last was pretty insane. My husband’s game was filled with team drama, the “coach” had no clue what to do, and so it all summed up to my husband “quitting”. He just said that if they needed an extra player to give him a call. Otherwise, he would no longer be going to practice or the games. Yea, it was bad. Now, he’s agreed to jump into something new. A band. Yes, a band. At first, I was a little pissed because he pretty much agreed to it before talking to me first, which always drives me CRAZY! And it’s not because of the band itself, but because this band is NOT local. The members are younger than us (by a year or three) and they are spread out EVERYWHERE! But none of them really have family responsibilities, and so they can just all travel whenever, wherever. My husband can’t. But, what’s done is done. They had two practices last weekend, one yesterday and it looks like all of the members really like what he’s going to bring to the table. They are trying for a “harder” sound, and maybe a new name. I got to meet all of them and they seemed pretty nice as well as very understanding of the fact that we’re parents and with that comes obligations. They haven’t said, officially, that my husband is in yet, but the main guy that runs the show told us on Friday he was very excited about this new direction my hubs was taking them in. So, I guess it’s time to start promoting for my husband's new band, huh?

Next, our explorer is a piece of crap. But, it’s the only vehicle we have. Some drama happened over it last week with the shop who was supposed to fix it. I’m still fuming over it, but it ended with me paying $520.20 for NOTHING. They literally did nothing to fix it. All the problems that we took it in for were still going on. We finally just picked it up this past Wednesday and drove it to another shop. So total, we spent $660.20, when all we really should have spent was $140.00. Yes, I’m pissed. No, there isn’t anything we can do about it. But at least it’s fixed, for now.

Then, Easter was a mess. I was grateful for the three day weekend but I had just hoped it would have been less hurried! On Saturday my family had an Easter get together; nothing big. Family and good food as usual with no huge ordeals so it turned out pretty nice. My husbands family wanted to get together on Sunday, and it turned out to be a bit more stressful. Someone was fighting, someone else was upset that we brought beer when there was a recovering alcoholic (really, it completely slipped my mind bc that person has been back and forth so many times this past year), and then Beau and I were arguing. Emery had a good time though! She actually hunted eggs, and they had a swing set there and she wanted to just swing all day! So, I didn’t want to deprive her of a good “first” Easter.

This past week was a bit more calm, with the exception of the explorer drama and the money wasted. A friend of ours got engaged Thursday! So I’m super excited about that! I start my hardcore diet on Monday, and I’m a bit nervous but hopeful! This next weekend I’m hoping will be a slow calm one? But first, this upcoming Tuesday is my hubby’s FIRST SHOW! Definitely post pictures of that! We’re in the last few steps of getting my husband’s license and I’m praying it goes smoothly. I’m praying that if anything has to be paid here in Texas that it will be a reasonable amount. Other than that, I have nothing new to share. Last week was hectic at work, and at home but I’m steadily getting back to a balance. Hope everyone is doing well! I’ll be back in full swing this week!!

Zombie Mommy

Monday, April 4, 2011

Omg...I want a redo of this past weekend, except that I would like to not have ANYTHING to do. Just a quiet, relaxing weekend, please? Ha! If only! Here’s a recap of my weekend:

Friday
Went for a run and bike ride with my aunt when I got home. Totally refreshed me! And my day got better. Unfortunately, that was the only slow part of my weekend.

Saturday
Woke up at 5, took the hubs to work. Came back, slept for an hour and then Em was up for the day! I fed and clothed both of us and off to town we went! I was told to buy a top for myself for our “night out”, and I had to get a baby shower gift as well as a birthday gift for a last minute party we were invited to! I only got about an hours worth of looking and shopping in because at 9:45 my hubs said he was getting off early. So I went to pick him up and we went to Wal-Mart where he proceeded to be rude and unpleasant. Afterward, we went to pick up a washer and dryer, and it was back home for lunch. 12 pm. Thirty minutes later I was getting the babes and I ready for the baby shower. And we were off! It was a nice baby shower, and the ladies throwing it said they got a lot of ideas from mine. I’m going to add in here that the ladies are some of the women I used to work with (two of the many reasons why I left) so it was a bit awkward, but I wasn’t there for them. I was there for the mommy to be. The shower lasted until around 3:15. The cake was great, the games were fun, the baby got a lot of presents, and everyone was in love with my little girl. Because she’s just so “sweet and calm for her age”. Ha! After saying byes, thank you’s, and good luck, the punkin and I were on our way back home! She fell asleep the minute she was in the car seat and I couldn’t wait to get a nap in. Unfortunately, we got home at  3: 50. The hubs and I had to be at the birthday party by 5:30 (it’s a 40-minute drive). So I took a nice little 20-minute nap and then had to wake up my grumpy other half. We got ready and were out the door at 5:00. Arrived at the little one's birthday party, caught up with friends, and ate some delicious food! We left around 7 pm to head over to our ORIGINAL destination for the night.

My friend's girlfriend’s birthday party (he’s in Afghanistan right now)! We met her at a friend of ours wedding and since they’ve been together I’ve only hung out with her once. But she’s really sweet and nice! Plus she’s a mommy so she KNOWS about the “week in advance” notices you have to get in order to really plan anything! I consider her a friend now too, but I just had to give you the background history. LOL! Anyway, the drinking commenced! My brother agreed to be our DD in case we got hammered, so I was so excited to not have to watch how many drinks I had. But again, unfortunately, I had a tummy ache from all the food I had eaten at the birthday party that I didn’t get to drink that much. And because of that food, it seemed to take a lot of drinks to even get me feeling tipsy. But, I had fun for the most part. I even got to see a friend I hadn’t seen since 2007! Then, to just add the cherry on top, we got to Skype with our friend in Afghanistan!! It was so awesome!! But, during the whole party the hosts, and owners of the house we were in were fighting!! He’s the friend from the wedding I spoke of earlier. We've all been friends for a long time, and these guys were “my boys”, so we've usually been invited to these shindigs. But his old lady has never liked me, and in fact, was a bit surprised when I showed up. Turns out she gave the birthday girl the 21 questions as to why I had been invited? Hmm, I guess it’s not a party if there’s no drama! But anyway, I kept my nose out of it, and I even asked if they wanted me to leave because I didn't want to cause any problems. Everyone told us to stay, and then halfway through the night, shit hit the fan. All I can say is that stuff was thrown, doors were slammed, and my friend ended up having to drive off for about 45 minutes, leaving us all there wondering what the hell was going on?! Once he came back, we (birthday girl, another male BFF, and I ) had a good 30 minute heart to heart with him. We just listened to him vent and let him know that whatever he decides to do, is all up to him and we're there for him 100%. That was our cue to head out, so I called my brother and we left at 1:00 am. I’m proud to report that I wasn't drunk, I had handled myself well. But still being the responsible person I did call my brother because I didn't want to chance getting pulled over, and they drove us home. We were in bed by 2:00 am, and then up at 6:30 am for Sunday!

Sunday
Was lazy for the first half of the morning. I had taken Aleve before drinking so I had no hangover, woo hoo! We fed and clothed ourselves to get ready for the day. The house was (is still) a mess, so I started to clean a little. Finally making my “recycle” trash cans for plastic and aluminum. I did a load of laundry and then put the grumpy punkin down for a nap. 12 pm came and we were off to town! Dropped my hubs off at a friend's house to get in a jam session (man time), and the little one and I did some shopping. OMG! I spent way too much. I’m debating on taking some of the stuff back and I’m pretty sure I will tomorrow. It was just...wow. I normally do great and stay in a budget, so I have no idea what the hell happened. After that, we made it to my MIL’s for a BBQ. Went to pick up the hubs 30 minutes later and just had a bit of downtime while she cooked. We watched STARDUST, and let Emery draw and play. The food was great and she even had dessert and some mac and cheese for Emery made. We left at about 4:45 pm, and we all slept once we got home! We were out from 5:30- 7:30 pm and Em woke up at about 9 pm! I woke up once in between with some major dizziness, so I went back to sleep. All better afterward, but the bad thing about napping so late in the afternoon is not being able to go back to sleep! We were up until about 11:00 pm. But the babes was bathed, and we were all in our PJ’s just watching TV. So it was a good night!

Today, I am really feeling the lack of sleep I got the past few days. And it sucks! This headache is going nowhere, and I still have so much to do today that I have no idea how I’m going to keep my eyes OPEN! And to top it all off, we had a nice rain storm and lightning show early this morning. It was sooo nice! I LOVE RAIN! So to have that kind of cloudy weather made me really not want to get out of bed this morning! But, I gotta go make that money!  Hope everyone else had a wonderful weekend!! And Happy Monday to all of you!!

Temper Tantrums, Birthdays, and Work

Saturday, October 16, 2010

You know that level of exhaustion where EVERYTHING feels comfortable? You could be sitting on a cement floor and it would feel like the world most comfortable bed? Well, that’s where I’m at. That level really sucks! Emery has started waking up in the middle of the night and she’ll stay up for like 1-2 hours. Banging on my head with her toy. I swear she’s going to be a drummer like her father. These late/early nights combined with the sudden weather change, have also caused her to get what seems to be an ear infection. Let’s throw in that she’s also teething, and you can imagine my pain.

If I were a stay at home mom, this might not bother me as much because I could sneak in naps here and there. But, I’m not. So work has been so annoying, and extra tiresome these past few weeks. I almost walked out Friday because I felt I was going to fall asleep right at my desk! My eyelids were sooo heavy the entire day. Why don’t I nap? Well, let's see. Beau’s been gone and as much as my parents help they still have their own lives and engagements. So, as soon as Emery is asleep I’m rushing trying to get laundry done. Sweeping, mopping, cleaning bottles, putting up laundry, feeding animals, and by the time that’s all done she’s up again. I’ve tried leaving her in the playpen, and also in her walker, but my darling precious little angel has started to throw tantrums. I swear this is not my fault. The babysitter can’t help herself and so she picks Emery up EVERY time she cries.

This kindness/weakness of hers, in turn, is causing problems for me. I love our babysitter. She’s a Godly person, and she speaks to Emery in Spanish. She adores Emery and takes REALLY good care of her. Plus, she’s cheap and she only takes care of ONE other child so the chances of Emery getting sick are a lot less than at a daycare. Still, Emery has started throwing fits. And you may think I’m kidding or exaggerating, but I’m not. She stomps her feet and throws herself backward. Sometimes she even THROWS things. She’ll scream and scream and it’s getting to be just a tad bit ridiculous. I refuse to be one of those mother’s that lets her child throw a fit because they can’t get what they want. I hate seeing that and have always vowed to NEVER let that happen once I had a child. But these recent episodes of hers are making me second guess whether I’ll have a choice in the matter or not. Now comes the next question: How soon can I start giving spankings?  (not even kidding)

This upcoming week is going to make my lack of sleep problem, a whole lot worse. Birthdays and anniversaries. Lots of them. We have a lot of stuff we have to do for the house before winter kicks in, and we have to get the explorer up and running. It’s going to be a very busy end-of-the month for us. Not to mention we have to finish paying off our lawyer and get my husband's license back. That means a lot of paperwork, legal people, insurance companies and a whole list of other crap I’d rather not deal with. Ugh, I’m so dreading it.

So, wish me luck. I’m going to need it.
