My husband is a musician. He’s not in a band, or anything. He reads tabs
instead of sheet music, but he makes music. He can
play the guitar, the bass, and the piano. He’s pretty modest and says he doesn’t
play them well, and maybe he doesn’t. But being self taught, and still able to
produce melodies and/or beats from nothing, I think he’s pretty freakin talented. He’s pretty
versatile too. He can switch from rock, to rap, to country depending on who he’s
collaborating with. And I
may not always say it or show it, but I’m very proud of him.
Music keeps him home. Not in the “you can’t go anywhere” kind of way, but
more of the “wow, you haven’t gotten into trouble in how long?” kind of way. So
for that, I’m really thankful. He really loves to this too. So seeing him happy, and doing something he loves is pretty awesome. Do you know what else is really cool about my
musician babe? We made one rad music baby together. And she has a dad that’s
teaching her the ropes.
My husband has been introducing our daughter to different instruments. He’s
exposed her to different styles of music. From Dr. Dre to iwrestledabearonce.
From Asking Alexandria to Adele. From Jason Aldene to Lady Gaga. And the list
goes on! So, music is always playing in our house, and our little punkin is
loving every minute of it! She’s head banged, screamed, growled, and sang to all
of her favorites, right along with daddy. Their time together seem to be her
favorite part of the day. And I’m completely in love, with watching the two of
them interact with each other.
Recently, my husband was finally able to set up his “man cave” to record
music in. And our daughter started taking her desk, leapfrog laptop, and
microphone into the room with him. She sets it up right next to his, and she’ll
be in there banging on drums, or playing the keyboard. He’ll sit her down on his
lap, and show her the different keys, and sounds that can be made. What’s even
cooler, is that she’s actually learning. With each passing day, she’s trying to
actually repeat the sounds she hears. She tries to repeat lyrics, and hold some
long winded “Ohhhhh’s”. And I find myself blown away.
Anyone else out there really love teaching their kids music? How do you go
about it and is it part of your ever day life? I look at these moments, and I’m
so grateful to have my family. So excited to have our daughter be so turned on
to music! And to have a husband that is such a great father, and is patient
enough to teach our toddler how to head bang and wake mommy up with the sound of
drums banging at 6 am. Yup, I feel truly blessed.
