Hi! Yes, I’m still alive. (barely) We were sick for the past few
days.
And by we, I mean Emery and I because my husband is a freak of nature and
hardly EVER gets sick.
After Emery’s birthday party, I started to not feel very well. It wasn’t
anything big, just nausea, so I paid no attention. Then on Monday Emery was
suppose to have her 2 year check up, but when we got there she was running a
fever. So, lucky for her, her vaccinations were postponed. She wasn’t acting
strange or like she felt sick, but when I was asked if she’d had any unusual
symptoms, I mentioned the “hives” that had come and gone, her cough, the
vomiting, and a night of having 101.3 fever from the week before. I had chalked
it all up to a stomach virus because her “symptoms” were so spread out. Well,
the doctor checked her, and it turned out that Emery had Hand, Foot, and Mouth
Disease. Apparently, it’s been going around. We were given an antibiotic
script, orders to stay at home for 24 hours, and sent on our way.
Before we left, I had asked about how far along you had to be, for your
period to be effected if you thought you could be pregnant. Because I've heard
of women being pregnant and still getting one last period. After what had happened before, I just wanted to rule it out completely. And by that
point, I couldn’t keep anything in or down so naturally I worried a bit.
The answer was: Yes you could still be pregnant, or it’s just a stomach bug.
I bought a pregnancy test, and picked up Emery’s medication before heading
home. I slept pretty much all afternoon, with the occasional “rushing to the
bathroom” break. It was not pretty. I was miserable, and that night Emery was
starting to get a bit grumpy. So we all called it a night early. The next morning
I received a reassuring negative, and by late afternoon I was able to eat a
light dinner with no bad side effects. Emery ran a fever for a little bit, but
we kept it down with some Tylenol, and yesterday she was back at the sitters.
Today, I’m feeling much better. Rested even. I guess this bug was nature’s
way of telling me to stop for a bit. That and to clean me out. Ugh, it was
miserable. At one point I stopped eating or drinking anything because my body
just wouldn't keep it in. But now I’m back to normal! I’ll post pictures of
Emery’s birthday party as soon as I get the chance. Which might not be till next
week because I’m behind on some school work. Boooo! C’mon spring break!
Oh man, I was sick this weekend and I could not imagine doing that with a two year old. I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hate being sick at the same time as my kid. Us both being grumpy and miserable is never good. Can't imagine how my husband felt having to deal with us both. But all is better today, so that's a good thing. :)
