Overview
HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO?
All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far...and almost doesn't make it back.
John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won't soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won't be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge — and over....
My Review
Meg is a rebel. She’s a runner. She’s constantly running. But she has a good reason for it. At least for now. She hates plans because they tie her down, and all she wants is to get out of her tiny little town. But after a night of drunkenness, Meg has to spend her spring break in a police car with John, the guy who arrested her. John is the nice guy. But his life hasn’t been hearts and rainbows. Instead of going to college after graduating he decides on the police academy. And now he’s adamant about serving and protecting his town. His bridge. But through the course of the week spent together, they are both left questioning what they believe and how they feel.
Guys. I read this book twice, in two days. I know I’ve been trying to get out of my “young adult” reading habit, but I can’t help myself. I was barely able to put this book down! The storyline was actually a bit different from any others I’ve ever read; personally. And yes it’s predictable, but that’s why we read love stories right? I didn't count on it to be as hott as it was though. The author kept it classy without going overboard though. There’s no actual sex in this book whatsoever. But the tension between these characters (sexual or not) was exactly what I look for in a book. And how true to life the characters dialogue’s were really made me feel like Meg and John were real. In fact, I was kind of upset that they weren't. I was really surprised at how short this book was though; less than 200 pages. The only complaint I would have is that the ending left me satisfied and not at the same time. I wanted more. There was sooo much room for more, but the author completely stopped. She did give us our happy ending, thankfully. It’s a love story after all. Still, once I was done I was hoping for a sequel. But the author is very determined on not making sequels for her books. (Boooo!) It was a really good read though! I liked this book so much that I could totally see it as a movie. In fact, that’s just how it played out in my head.
