Oklahoma Took My Husband Away…

Monday, August 23, 2010

This will have to be quick since I have to work tomorrow.

My husband is off in Oklahoma working. Booo! I miss him a lot. He gets to be home for a full twenty-four hours each week. This is supposed to last up to 2 months (maybe longer). It’s great money, and we really need this, it just sucks he has to be so far away. He’s not liking it much either. He was gone for two days and then got to come back, it took Emery half a day to get used to him again. By the time she did, he had to leave. The schedule is now him being gone all week and gets to be back Saturday night, only to leave Sunday night. And it is completely putting me in a funk.

I now have no one to talk to. Besides the parents, but that gets old. I miss him sleeping next to us and handing me the pacifier in the middle of the night. Or just him giving me a kiss goodnight. I guess I just have to keep telling myself that this is for the best. He won’t be gone forever.

Single Mommy Mode

Saturday, July 24, 2010

My mother and grandmother left for Lubbock bright and early this morning and won't be back till tomorrow night. Regardless of her helping me out a bit, I have been doing the "single mommy" thing for a few days now. I would like to just say "To all the single moms out there, I give you props! It is hard work doing EVERYTHING alone." But these past few days have made me come to realize that even though it would be hard if my husband ever did leave me, I could do this. Anyone who knows my husband will know that this is a good realization for me.

My husband has been gone to Georgia (with my dad to help relatives move back to Texas), since Thursday. I have received a total of 3 text messages (none were from today). All but one were one-word replies. My mother talks to my dad at least 3 times a day! And that's him calling her!! They won't be back till Tuesday, and my husband hasn't even bothered to call!! I am official proof that girls don't always end up marrying someone that resembles their dad.

So it would appear that my husband doesn't really miss us. I tried texting him today and he didn't bother replying. He hasn't called either. You would think that if you were to be gone a whole week, you'd at least start missing your daughter. Maybe call your wife to see how she's doing, especially if she's having to stay alone. But, with my luck, he's at the bar having shots with my cousins, perhaps my dad as well, and he's having himself a good ole time.

So I have a question: If I'm the one busting my ass, why is HE getting to go out and have a vacation?
