A Third Birthday Party

Thursday, February 28, 2013

This year, we were on a budget for Emery's birthday party. Then, our income tax return came in a week early so we were able to splurge a little bit. Still, I didn't have the time to rent out a space, or have our normal baker make her a birthday cake. Okay, that sounded way too fancy.."our normal baker". Psh. She's a long time family friend that bakes/designs cakes and she's always done them for our special occasions. Anyway, I basically had a day and a half to put this together because our original plan was to just have cake, and let her open presents with family.

Thankfully, with the help of my lovely parents we managed to pull it off. The night before we bought the decorations, party favors, and plates. I had already ordered a cake so I didn't have to worry about that. On the day of we ordered the pizza and my mother made a huge salad with grilled chicken. We set everything up, and had everything ready by the time people started showing up.

We had food, drinks, cake, and lovely conversations. Emery was able to have two of her friends over. She doesn't know very many other children because she doesn't attend daycare. They played games, painted with watercolors, blew bubbles, and rode bikes around the yard. It was a really nice day out so they were able to spend a lot of time outside which they loved. Isn't it cool how easily kids can entertain themselves? By the time they were ready to come in for her to open presents they all had dirty hands and grass stained jeans.

We were complimented on the food and decorations. Emery giggled all day. Once the party was over I was able to take a nap because I was exhausted. Then when it was time for Emery to head to church with my parents that evening she was out like a light. I'm glad she enjoyed herself though. I know it was a very successful (very last minute) birthday party, but it really was perfect. I'm thankful for all of the help I received that day too. I had help cleaning up, airing up the balloons, and wrapping presents. So to everyone that helped me out, a big THANK YOU goes out to y'all.

Now, I know I said I'd post pictures, but there are a few missing. I still haven't been able to upload the ones we took on our camera so the ones from my iPhone will have to do for now. :) Also, since we did have other  kids there I've decided to just post the ones of Em because I don't know how the other parents feel about having their child's pictures on the internet.

    1. Thank you! Time is definitely flying by. :( I miss the days when I could hold her in one arm. But at the same time I'm so excited to watch her grow and experience new things.
