Overview
When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young
entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant,
and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she wants
this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is desperate to get close
to him. Unable to resist Ana’s quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey
admits he wants her, too—but on his own terms.
Shocked yet thrilled by Grey’s singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success—his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving family—Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey’s secrets and explores her own dark desires.
Erotic, amusing, and deeply moving, the Fifty Shades Trilogy is a tale that will obsess you, possess you, and stay with you forever.
My Review
*spoilers ahead*
Christian Grey is a cocky man. Good looking,
charming, and wealthy. But, he’s a control freak in every aspect of the word.
And Miss Steele, being a virgin AND having zero relationship experience, has no
idea what she’s getting herself into. The man has a secret BDSM lifestyle complete with a ND
clause, and instead of “running for the hills” as he has expected her to she
decides that she can handle a little pain in order to keep him. No romance. No
vanilla. No flowers. No real relationship. But, things get
tricky. As she starts to explore his world there are some things she
unexpectedly likes, some that she absolutely hates, and some things that bring
her to her knees (literally). All the while, Mr. Grey finds himself changing as
well. Being a man that has never let emotion or “feelings” dictate his life, he
finds himself breaking his own rules for her. But their “relationship”
can only last this way for so long before one of them breaks.
Wow. I’ve heard A LOT about this book recently.
Apparently a lot of moms are getting really into the trilogy. It’s even being
credited for “spicing” things up in many couples bedroom’s and I can see why.
This book is pretty erotic. The main character was actually very relate-able. Though sometimes I found myself wanting her to be more in control. To stand up for herself a bit more. And on occasion to flat out tell the man "NO". But she apparently loves him, and we all know that people do stupid shit when their in love. So, I accepted it. But, from the get go, you find yourself blushing just by
reading the events taking place. I've never had that happen before. Giddy and excited? Yes.
But blushing? Not that I can remember. Just reading about the lengths this woman
goes to in order to please Mr. Grey, almost make you want to go take a shower
after reading it. Either because your slightly turned on or you feel kind of
dirty. Either way, this book was quite enjoyable. I found it really hard to put
it down. Definitely recommend this book.

I just finished the trilogy last week. These books are the first "steamy romance" books that I have read, and quite frankly I was getting tired off all of the sex scenes. To me it just seemed unrealistic. Who has that much sex? Who is THAT horny all the damn time?
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy but it kind of reminded me of the love story in Twilight. Young innocent girl, a guy that every woman swoons for and has way too much money...over protective.....can't really go in to more detail without spoilers....
I guess I am just tired of reading books like this.
Why can't the woman be the rich powerful one?
These are the first “adult romance” novels I’ve read too. And your right about the Twilight similarities because the author wrote the books with Edward and Bella in mind. Only, not as vampires.
DeleteI actually really liked these books because of how much sex they were having, lol! And how they were having it. I doubt it was every day, but before Emery came along it was 2-3 times a day most days out of the week for me. Maybe I was just an odd ball, but for the most part I was pretty horny. I actually feel bad for my husband these days because my sex drive isn’t anywhere near what it used to be.
I’m sure there are books out there where the woman (Madam) is a rich, and powerful woman calling all of the shots. But I think this plays on what women want done to them. Some of the more hardcore stuff may not be everyone's cup of tea, although some people do like it. But I think it’s more of the excitement. Having some handsome, and powerful man give you the world along with some really great “standing on your head” sex. :)
Because let’s be honest, what woman doesn’t want some really great “earth shattering” sex?? I actually got some ideas to make things more fun for us thanks to these books. :-D
