Visits

Last week we had my husband's aunt come down for a visit. We were able to see here a few times while she was down, and it was really nice. She's been through a lot the past few months, and I'm completely blown away by how often you see her smiling. How she's always in a good, upbeat, mood that seems to be pretty damn infectious. She told us there were bad days too, but that she tried to get passed them the best way she could. But I remember how crappy I felt when my life was all over the place. I remember how hard it was for me to feel like things would get better. So, I honestly have no idea how she does it, but I hope that one day I have as much strength inside of me as she does.

This is James' mom. She laughs with her whole body, carries a camera wherever she goes, and she's always wanting to give hugs. I met her when I was living in California, and she snapped one of the first pictures of my husband (then bf), and I as a couple. I remember laughing so much that day. She's always been a carefree spirit it seems. I really, truly, admire that. Sadly, the visit seemed too short. I wish I had had more time to spend with all of the ladies, but work got in the way. Still, it was great. We had a great afternoon filled with laughs, and food. Wine, and desserts. And I was so happy to see her doing so well. Not letting the light fade, but rather making sure that it was brighter. I wish I had been able to do more, to say more, express more. But I hope the extra long hugs said enough.
