Last week we had a spontaneous moment. As I was getting ready to head home from work I received a message that Luke Wade would be performing for free at our local amphitheater. The last time I attempted a Luke Wade show I ended up really drunk. I was outside puking my guts out as he took the stage. I know, I know...shame on me. So, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for me to actually see what this local celebrity was all about. I headed home to pick up my daughter and sister-in-law, and then we made our way back into town.
Luke Wade is actually from the same town I currently live in. He competed in "The Voice" during season 7. Which I never watched. So, I went into this not really knowing what he sounded like, or what kind of music he played. There are so many people that rave about him though, especially around here, and this sparked my curiosity. I'm actually really glad that I decided to go too. Though he's not what I normally listen to there's no doubt that the man is talented. His voice is a bit raspy, and his style is a mix of indie and soul with a hint of the blues. The man himself seemed really nice, he took the time to talk to a lot of the fans, and he took pictures with everyone that asked. Em and I went up to the front so I could get a picture of him once his set started, and we danced around a little before she decided she wanted to go back to our seats for some food. Still, it was a great night. I'm glad that we got to go, and I finally found out what the hype was all about. :)
If you get a chance you should definitely check him out. His music is on Spotify, SoundCloud, and I think iTunes. We were able to hear some of his new material which was pretty cool. Em enjoyed herself, and it was a really chill show. She was a little disappointed that he didn't do a cover of one of her favorite songs. But all is forgiven now. We left a bit early in order to beat the long line out, but it was still a pleasant way to spend our Thursday night.
